Nine months ago, an enthusiastic group of volunteers took the plunge and purchased this c.1900 farmhouse on over 5 acres of rolling land with the dream of turning it into the area’s ONLY pet sanctuary. The first phase has been to renovate the old house into the Chesapeake Cats and Dogs offices and a “free roam” living environment for the cattery. The new center will have additional living spaces for our “special needs” felines and kittens as well. We care for the animals with special needs that other area shelters do not have the time and resources to manage.

Since acquiring the property, we have gutted the interior, installed new electric, plumbing and HVAC, insulation to keep our guests cozy, vinyl windows, vinyl siding, exterior doors, a handicapped accessible bathroom, all new drywall surfaces, and a REALLY expensive well. We have scrounged and sweated and begged to get to where we are and are SO close to finishing, we can almost see the finish line!

Now we need your help. We are fundraising here to complete the interior trim, painting, cabinetry, vinyl flooring. and a handicap-accessible ramp. Please click here to help!

MICKEY: Adult male Beagle/Boston mix
Mickey is a seven year old Beagle/Boston mix who was rescued from a hoarding situation. He has been fully vetted including a dental and is a healthy little love bug. At 16 pounds, he could use some good food, a comfortable bed, and lots of attention. He would be happiest as the center of attention, but does get along with other dogs. Cats are an unknown, but he does need to go to a home without children.
CASSIE OLIVE: **ADOPTED!**
Adult female tortoiseshell

Cassie Olive is a sweet little girl, looking for attention and love. She has a short tail that just adds to her charm! She would make a wonderful addition to your home and she is hoping you choose her!

Tree of Life Pet Sanctuary: Work Days

201507141734192397We are finally ready to move forward on our Tree of Life Pet Sanctuary project, and we need YOUR help!

On Saturday June 25th and Sunday June 26th from 8am until mid-afternoon we’ll be working again at the Sanctuary. There is a wide variety of small and large jobs to tackle, both inside the house and outside on the grounds. Please consider giving some time this weekend to help move the Sanctuary forward. The sooner we are able to get the place ready for occupancy, the sooner we will be able to relocate!

If you are unavailable to help on our Sanctuary work days, please consider supporting our efforts to build a new home for our cats and dogs by making a donation. Thank you for your support!

Goldie is RUSHING to find a home of her own!

Goldie-s

Goldie is adorably affectionate and just loves to cuddle, but she can become overwhelmed by stress around other cats or around children. In a home of her own, she could relax and be herself—a consummate cuddle-bug who would be a great companion for someone!
